This is an interview that I did with the legendary blues master, Johnny Burgin, at Diane Tesler’s bungalow in Kewanna, Indiana on September 30, 2017 – also included is a live recording of the Legendary Rockin’ Johnny Blues Band* performing “House of the Rising Sun” at the Kewanna Street Festival on September 29, 2017.
The interview was conducted the day after Johnny’s performance at the Kewanna Fall Festival at the artist, Diane Tesler’s bungalow. Kewanna is a tiny town of 600 good people, but the interview sounds more like it was conducted in a cafe in a larger city as the noise coming from the kitchen was from dishes being done and everybody there was still on a high that Johnny and his band were in town. And, there was an emergency run by the Kewanna Volunteer Fire Department during the interview!
This was Johnny’s second trip to perform in Kewanna, Indiana. He has a lot of fans in this north central rural area of Indiana. He is already planning to return.
Thanks to Johnny for an excellent interview. It was a privilege to listen to Johnny talk about his art and his life as a musician. I am hardly a professional interviewer; rather, I appreciate Johnny and his music and wanted to learn what he is all about with regard to his art.
*Johnny Burgin – vocals, guitar, harp; Steve Dougherty – drums; John Baker – bass
